1. Tenancy Agreement
All vehicle rentals arranged through Hackney are governed by a detailed Rental Agreement provided at booking confirmation or when collecting the vehicle. The Rental Agreement sets out the specific terms and conditions, insurance cover, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for that rental. If there is any inconsistency between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement takes precedence.
2. Hackney Eligibility
To rent a vehicle from Hackney, you must:
- Be at least 21 years old (age restrictions may differ by vehicle category, with additional charges possible for drivers under 25). Hold a valid, full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category, held for the minimum period specified in the Rental Agreement. Provide valid identification, proof of address and a payment card in the driver’s name.
3. Hackney Bookings and Payments
- Bookings can be made through our website, by phone, or in person at our Hackney location. A booking deposit may be required to confirm your reservation. Full payment and the security deposit are normally due when the vehicle is collected. All prices are in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable.
4. Hackney Collection and Return
- You must inspect the vehicle at collection and report any pre-existing damage to Hackney immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both you and Hackney. Return the vehicle in the same condition as at collection, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage found on return will be evaluated and repair costs charged to you.
5. Liability and Insurance
- Basic third-party insurance is included with all Hackney rentals. Full coverage details and excess amounts are set out in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to reduce your financial liability. Please review these options carefully. You are responsible for damage or loss up to the stated excess as described in the Rental Agreement.
6. Cancellation and Changes — Hackney
Cancellation and amendment policies for Hackney bookings vary according to booking type and the applicable notice period. Please refer to your booking confirmation or rental agreement for detailed information. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges.
7. Disallowed Uses
You must not use the Hackney vehicle for:
- Any illegal purpose or activity in connection with a Hackney vehicle. Racing, rallying, off-roading, or other hazardous activities. Transporting hazardous or dangerous materials. Sub-letting the vehicle to third parties or allowing unauthorized drivers. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Purposes for which the vehicle is not designed...
Violating restrictions may result in immediate Hackney rental termination and additional charges.
8. Limitation of Liability for Hackney
To the maximum extent permitted by English and Welsh law, Hackney will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or loss of profits, data or business, arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the fees paid by you to Hackney for the services in the twelve months preceding the event that gave rise to the claim.
9. Hackney Jurisdiction
These Hackney Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
10. Changes to Hackney Terms
Hackney may modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on Hackney's website. Your continued use of Hackney services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
